Scaffolding Inspector

Job Description
- Responsible for inspecting scaffolding structures on onshore facilities and offshore platforms to ensure they are safe, stable, and compliant with industry standards and regulations
- Conducts detailed inspections of erected, modified, and dismantled scaffolds before, during, and after use
- Verifies that scaffolding is built according to approved drawings, method statements, and engineering requirements
- Checks all scaffold components for defects, correct installation, and proper securing of fittings and connections
- Ensures scaffolding is correctly tagged ([removed], safe for use / incomplete / unsafe) in accordance with site procedures
- Identifies hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues, and recommends corrective actions
- Works closely with scaffolding teams, supervisors, engineers, and HSE personnel to ensure compliance and safety
- Reviews scaffolding permits, inspection checklists, and handover documentation
- Monitors scaffolding during ongoing operations, maintenance, shutdowns, and turnaround activities
- Ensures adherence to HSE regulations, including working-at-height requirements and permit-to-work systems
- Provides technical guidance and feedback to scaffolding crews on required improvements or corrections
- Reports inspection findings, safety concerns, and compliance status to supervisors and management
- Supports offshore and onshore operations, including high-risk environments such as oil and gas platforms
- Participates in site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits as required
- Ensures continuous compliance with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements
- May assist in scaffold handover certification depending on site authorization and competency level
Other Requirements
- Proven experience as an Advanced Scaffolder (Level 3), Scaffolding Supervisor, or Inspector in oil & gas or heavy industrial projects
- Recognized scaffolding inspection certification or industry-approved competency qualification
- Strong offshore experience preferred for offshore inspection roles
- Must be medically fit for demanding onshore and offshore environments
- Valid offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET/FOET, HUET if required for helicopter transfer)
- Offshore medical fitness certificate (for offshore deployment)
- Strong understanding of scaffolding inspection standards and client requirements
- Ability to work independently and make safety-critical decisions on site
- Strong integrity and accountability for certifying scaffolding safety status
- Willingness to work rotational offshore schedules (e.g., 14/14 or 28/28 depending on project)
- Ability to work under pressure during shutdowns, turnarounds, and critical operations
- Strong communication skills for reporting to clients, engineers, and HSE teams
- Experience in permit-to-work systems, scaffold handover procedures, and site audits
- High attention to detail and commitment to strict safety compliance
- Ability to manage multiple inspections across large and complex work sites
- Strong leadership mindset when providing guidance to scaffolding crews and supervisors
- Ability to pass company/client competency assessments, interviews, and trade verification tests
