Job Description

Ensures full compliance with the BSP HSE policies and procedures as detailed in the Safety Management System, HSE Standards and all other appropriate Brunei Shell HSE documentation.

Sets a clear leadership example and promotes a high degree of health, safety and environmental awareness among all TW staff.

Reviews effectiveness of contractor HSE management by line inspection. Initiates and develops new HSE initiatives aimed at improving departmental HSE performance and is accountable for follow-up and documented close-out of individual and subordinates’ action points, identified in departmental HSE plan.

Leads the department’s critical HSE focus areas of Process Safety, Personal Safety and Management of Change.

Review all the contractor’s operations work plans and design of service of various work scopes. Provide technical input into the completion programs during execution planning phase.

Lead and supervise SIT of completion tool and equipment at contractor’s workshops and perform QAQC of sand control down hole equipment / tools.

Review completion design report and DDE prior to execution phase and provide technical advice where necessary.

Coordinate and supervise complex gravel pack operations at worksite (offshore) where necessary.

Review well control plan and barrier diagrams for various completion operation

Establish good communication channel between business partners and rig team during completion operations phase
Accountable for compliance to the Global Well Delivery Process.

Responsible for the planning and execution primarily of high-risk and high-complexity wells (e.g. HPHT, EOR, hydraulic fracturing)

Work as a member of well execution team alongside the asset project lead, production technologists, petroleum engineers, well engineers to deliver completion designs from sandface to wellhead that meet the project and well objectives – e.g. robust sand control, low skin, minimal intervention

To be accountable, in multi skills teams, for the well-path design, focussing on deviation and directional designs that could cause operational problems or risk during the completion execution phase or well services entry problems throughout the life cycle

Adhere to the global well delivery process including deliver-the-limit processes; design reviews, timely ordering of equipment to meet project timings

Use company-standard and industry-standard well and completion design principles and software to provide assurance that the completions can be reliably and safely executed during the construction phase and provide the required functionality and technical integrity throughout its life cycle;

Deliver well designs and select down-hole components that deliver the required functionality while optimizing operational risk during the well construction phase and are serviceable for the duration of the well’s lifetime and minimize the requirement for intervention

Consult other well services departments – wireline, CTU, well-head maintenance – to ensure that the lower and upper completion components are suitable for the lifecycle of the well and can be efficiently accessed and maintained

Drive the standardization of completion equipment in order to simplify materials ordering, completion running, and facilitate reduced expenditure on additional well services tools and equipment.

Incorporate new technology in order to enable new types of opportunities to be developed, optimize lifecycle costs, allow the economical drilling and completion of marginal wells or difficult or extended-reach targets; contribute to department technology plan

Perform after action reviews and document lessons learned; actively pursue improvements in completion design and execution (lean, six-sigma); support lateral learning across BSP and Shell

Document work and accurately archive well data in well files
Ensures that learnings from well execution are captured in a learnings database and communicated to the Front-end completion design team. Also ensures that learnings are communicated to all execution projects.

Develops the Completions Standard Operating Procedures and ensures that programs utilize the SOP’s.

Ensures timely preparation of well work programs for the various work units

Technical assurance and peer assistance for completions in BSP

Technology focal point for completions, co-ordinating the development of new technology with vendors and internal Shell technology developers

(Preferred) Subject matter expert in one or more key areas in completions (e.g. sand control, smart wells, wells software) providing support to other completion engineers in BSP

Participates in feasibility studies, value challenge, deliver the limit, global technology connect and to identify projects, which meet companies screening criteria. For those studies, which meet the criteria, deliver completion engineering input in to the FDP.

Continuously update knowledge of new technologies and developments by attending appropriate courses, seminars, workshops and conferences.
Ensure direct reports are provided with sufficient resources and training in order to achieve compliance to HSSE policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.

Develop Individual Performance Records, including target setting and review and compiles mid-year and annual performance review reports. Develops individual development plans and represents them in the annual performance and potential review cycle.

Coaches and supports selected young local Bruneian graduate staff with a view to assist them in developing into mature, balanced, communicative and motivated engineers.

Other Requirements

10 years Well Engineering Experience and at least 5 years involved in completion design and selection
Possess valid IWCF certificate supervisor level.
Team management skills with people of diverse backgrounds (cultural and technical competencies)

Strong team building and leadership skills, sensitive to local social and cultural issues.

Strong understanding of the Well Delivery Process including advancement of new technology
