Job Description
Deliver theoretical and practical crane operation training to offshore personnel.
Develop and update crane operator training materials, manuals, and assessments.
Conduct competency assessments (initial and refresher) for crane operators.
Provide hands-on training using offshore cranes in live or simulated environments.
Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations ([removed], LOLER, OSHA, IMCA, API RP 2D).
Monitor and evaluate crane operators’ performance and provide coaching or retraining as necessary.
Maintain accurate training records and certification documentation.
Participate in incident investigations related to crane operations and provide retraining if needed.
Advise operations and safety teams on lifting operations best practices.
Stay up to date with changes in lifting regulations, equipment, and training techniques.
Other Requirements
Valid Offshore Crane Operator Certificate (e.g., Stage 3 OPITO or equivalent)Certified Trainer/Assessor credentials (e.g., OPITO Approved Assessor, Train-the-Trainer certification)
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Offshore Crane Operator, including time as a Stage 3 operator
Strong understanding of offshore lifting operations, lifting plans, and safety practices
Familiarity with various crane types (pedestal, knuckle boom, lattice boom)
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and mentor effectively
Offshore survival and medical certifications (BOSIET/FOET, OGUK medical)
Computer literacy for reporting and documentation purposes
